Mediedvil town with great view

Driving from Radda in Chianti and from your apartment we would like to suggest you to take a trip to Volterra. It's a nice town around Chianti ans San Gimignano. Volterra is perched on cliffs "at the highest point of a high hill", a Stendhal wrote , between the valley of the Era and the Cecina rivers. The country side seen from the town's various scenic viewpoints is striking: itsrcky abysses produced by centuries of erosion seem to be about to swallow uo the eyrie like town. However Volterra still looks medieval, with its buildings in gray stone, while the collections in the nationaly -important archeological museum bear witness to its great Etruscan past. It was the Etruscans who first used alabaster for their cinerary urns,and still today the town is justly proud of its workmanship of this noble material.
