Vernaccia wine

Vernaccia of San Gimingnao DOCG white wine

Vernaccia wine
The first mention of Vernaccia in vineyards around San Gimignano dates 1276. Today Vernaccia wine may be produced only in the San Gimignano area, and only using grapes from San Gimignano Vernaccia vines, something supplemented with others specified varieties. Its pale color becomes golden when aged. It has a specially delicate and penetrating aroma, and smooth, dry taste, with characteristic slightly bitter aftertaste. Minimum alcohol content 11° (11.5° for Vernaccia riserva). Recommened with Italian -style antipasti, pasta dishes, soup, fish white meat and sweet cheeses such as Pecorino delle crete Senesi
