Monteriggioni walls

The old town of Monteriggioni is near to chianti area and from your apartment if you will be having your holiday in chianti. The town, surrounded by its walls looks over the gentle Senese hills, a superbly typical Tuscan panorama. It was a Senese fortified outpost aginst the Fiorentini, and was consedered to be impregnable. Its legendary walls (1212-1270) are crowned by 14 square towers. In the centre of the town, in the samll square on the only street linking the two city gates, is the church of San Giovanni Battista, an exemple of the transition from Romanesque to Gothic
