Chianti Classico, he oldest area of origin of Chianti wine, convers nine municipal districts, between Firenze and Siena. Its production, under the symbol of the Black Cockerel, is strictly regulated: only certain vines,Sangiovese grapes (75% - 100%), Canaiolo Nero (maximum 10%), and other specified grapes, may be used. The wine is a bright ruby red in color, becoming burgundy red with time. Vinous, with a hint of violets and distinctvely subtle arom when aged; smooth, dry, palatable, slightly tannic tste,that becomes velvety with ageing. Minimum alcohol content 12°. The Riserva version (12.5°) is aged in casks and further aged in bottles. As a young wine, it goes well with grilled red meat; when aged, excellent with game and robust flavors.
